I began my travel career in 1991, working with Kuoni Travel in Sydney for five years before moving to American Express Corporate Travel as an account executive for large organisations. For the next seven years I was fortunate enough to coordinate and plan not only business travel requirements but also many family holidays. It was a pleasure to provide complete travel services to those business travellers and their families. After my success in Sydney, as a family we decided to have a 'sea change' and move to beautiful Port Macquarie. I joined a local retail travel agency and worked my way up to managing that office for over 11 years. In that time many challenges were faced within the broad spectrum that is the travel industry, however the most rewarding achievement has been the incredible relationships I have built with so many people locally. I love nothing more than planning the perfect holidays for my customers. The travel bug started at an early age for me thanks to my incredible parents. Nothing beats experiencing other countries, cultures, new culinary delights, intriguing landscapes and the world's beautiful languages. As well as creating travel memories for my customers, friends and family, I love to share my personal adventures. Some of the destinations that I have had the opportunity to explore include Fiji, New Zealand, the USA, Canada, Europe, Vietnam, Thailand, Vanuatu, cruising the South Pacific, China, Hong Kong -and the list goes on! Still, I have a few more destinations on my bucket list - so always ask me about my latest trip!
As Lauren's daughter, it goes without saying that I've been lucky enough to experience travel for all of my life. Having a mum who's a travel agent has its perks and in our family travel has always been a priority! This meant I learnt a lot about cultures and the value of travel at a young age. My very first trip was to Fiji when I was still in the womb, and I think my wanderlust started there. The first true memory I have of Fiji is of from when I was five, sitting in a plastic chair having my hair braided while listening to local Fijians singing traditional songs. I remember the smell of kava at the welcoming ceremony. I remember the ocean mist sticking to my skin. I knew I was lucky to do this. The lifelong learnings I've gained from travelling are immense and have shaped my life path into education. I’m in my final year of a Bachelor in Education (Special & Inclusive) with a focus on Indigenous Studies. I want to bring cultural education that celebrates tradition and perspective into primary classrooms, and will continue to travel to continue learning and get my degree. My studies have shown me how valued education can be in all forms and my travel history has shaped my teaching practice. When I’m not studying, I manage social media for How We Travel, I learn and explore countries and what they have to offer in the travel industry, and I enjoy designing travel promotions and managing communications through an active platform to our valued clients. Like our client, I have the travel bug and am always on the look out for the best deals to explore all the places that are on my bucket list. These include Japan, Africa, Antarctica, Spain and Mexico to name a few. I cannot wait to share my travel stories and let everyone know How I Travel. .
